Human and Translational Immunology Lab

In our working group we investigate the immune response generated in different physiological and pathological situations in humans.
To this end, we use several experimental strategies:

  • a) phenotypic characterisation of a single immune cell, either circulating in blood or tissue, by multiparametric flow cytometry and subsequent analysis of the data by unsupervised computational methods;
  • b) animal models of human pathologies to investigate immunological mechanisms or test hypotheses;
  • c) spatial relationships between immune cells through digital multiplex immunohistochemistry and
  • d) computational analysis of "omics" data already published and residing in public banks.

Our projects focus on: -the study of the immune response generated in children with Down's syndrome, analysing T cells, B cells and dendritic cells in tonsils removed for obstructive sleep apnoea. the immunological characteristics of the tumour microenvironment in murine models of cancer treated with different TLR ligands - the computational analysis of immunological data from cancer patients treated with responder and non-responder immunocheckpoints - the computational analysis of immunological data from triple-negative breast cancer patients treated with anti-GGEF and anti PDL-1 or anti-GGEF alone.
